If you’re running a business in the building and construction industry, tenders are great opportunities for you to get work.
We've put together a list of the best places to look for tenders in Queensland.
Department of Housing and Public Works
The Department of Housing and Public Works’ Online Project Search provides a quick and easy way to find current and upcoming tender opportunities.
To tender on government projects you must be registered under the Prequalification (PQC) System. For more information about PQC, call the PQC Infoline on 1800 072 621 or go to the Department of Housing and Public Works website.
The Queensland Government has two eTender websites, which can be accessed through QTender and eTender within the Department of Housing and Public Works website.
Queensland Government
From 1 July 2014, the key requirement of the new Queensland Government Building and Construction Training Policy is for contractors on eligible Queensland Government building and civil construction projects to ensure that a minimum of 10 per cent of the total labour hours on the project are undertaken by apprentices and trainees and through other workforce training.
From 1 September 2017, this core requirement increased to 15% for eligible major building and/or civil construction projects (i.e. projects with a contract sum of $100M or greater including GST).
The Training Policy replaces the Queensland Government Building and Construction Contracts Structured Training Policy (10% Training Policy) and the Indigenous Employment Policy for Queensland Government Building and Civil Construction Projects (IEP 20% Policy).
The contract thresholds under the Training Policy are different to the previous policies and now apply to Queensland Government building projects with a contract sum of $500,000 (including GST) or greater and for civil construction projects with a contract sum of $3 million (including GST) or greater.
However, contracts of $20 million (including GST) or more with government owned corporations must also comply with the Training Policy as well as public private partnership contracts for building projects with a contract sum of $500,000 (including GST) or greater and for civil construction projects with a contract sum of $3 million (including GST) or greater.
