COVID-19 update: Masks mandatory across Qld for certain businesses (17 Dec 2021)
17 December 2021
If you are completing construction work for businesses with mask mandates, you must follow their directives and advice.
As of 1 am Saturday 18 December 2021, masks are mandatory across Queensland in the following businesses:
- Shops and retail centres
- Hospitals and aged care
- On public transport
- In rideshare vehicles, and
- Airports and planes.
- UPDATE 22/12/21 - masks also required in cinemas and theatres and for hospitality workers from 5am, 23 December 2021.
While masks are not currently mandated for other workplaces including construction sites and offices, if you are completing construction work for businesses with mask mandates, you must follow their directives and advice. Now that Queensland borders have re-opened, wearing a mask will help slow the spread of the virus, and you should consider wearing one in circumstances where you can’t socially distance.
As outlined in our recent COVID-19 update, some premises will only allow fully vaccinated persons in their venues. If you are working at one of these or in a high risk setting, you and your workers undertaking that work will likely need to be vaccinated as well as wear a mask.
This mask mandate will be revised once Queensland hits 90 per cent double-dosed vaccinated.
