3 August 2021
Building and construction can continue at this time.
We’ve received further advice from the Department of Energy and Public Works that they are continuing to urge the industry to take a common sense approach, including wearing appropriate PPE, including masks, and ensuring you don’t enter a household where residents are either in quarantine or have any COVID-19 like symptoms.
IMPORTANT: If you are contracted to perform work with someone who is currently in quarantine or isolation at home and there are emergency works that must be completed to that residence to make the home safe or functional, we highly recommend you seek advice from Queensland Health before proceeding.
The Department has acknowledged that with the extended lockdown, it may not be feasible to postpone planned renovations, repairs or maintenance to ensure the property is accessible, safe and functional – which includes work on the interior, exterior or grounds of a property. In these instances you must limit, wherever possible, interactions between workers and residents, staff or visitors.
MASK UP!
Queensland Health also advises that masks are to be worn at all times – in workplaces (including on building and construction sites, where it is safe to do so) and also when outside places of residences and on public transport.

ESSENTIAL DOCUMENTATION WHEN TRAVELLING
We recommended that if you are travelling for essential work you do the following:
- Take personal identification with you
- Take information with you about your purpose of travel, such as a contract or work order or evidence that you are a construction worker.
- Go directly to and from your home to the worksite without stopping to do non-essential activities (such as shopping, or grabbing a bite to eat)
- Wear a mask
- Follow hygiene and social distancing rules.
