Update on NSW border crossing + entry declarations
NSW border restrictions announced
With four new LGAs from the Qld/NSW border zone declared hot spots, the Queensland Government has announced changes to you need to know about if crossing the border for work and travelling back into Queensland.
Essential work can continue
If you are travelling for essential work (work that can’t be done from home) like construction, you can continue to cross the border into the NSW border zone for work purposes. On your return to Queensland, you must follow the NSW stay at home restrictions – including wearing a mask and only leaving home for essential reasons.
You cannot leave the border zone. If you do (or are found to do so), or if you’re not travelling for an essential purpose, you may be required to perform mandatory 14-day quarantine on your return to Queensland.
Queenslanders who have been to one of the four LGAs since 31 July 2021
If you have been in any of the four LGAs (Byron, Richmond Valley, Lismore and Ballina) on or after 31 July 2021, you must also follow the NSW stay at home restrictions while in Queensland.
Read more about the updates on the Queensland Government website.
Queensland entry pass
In order to enter Queensland, you must complete a Queensland entry pass (this includes Queensland residents).
NSW entry declaration
If travelling to the border zone for construction work, you’ll need to complete the NSW entry declaration within 24 hours of entry, each time you enter NSW, but not more than once every 72 hours (3 days).
More information including the information you need to provide is available on the NSW Government website.
