Local builders came up trumps at this year’s Master Builders Sunshine Coast 2022 Housing & Construction Awards.
More than 40 builders, projects, and individuals from Noosa to Pelican Waters were recognised at the glamorous event, held at the Novotel Sunshine Coast Resort on Saturday, 6 August.
Chris Smith Construction scored a hat-trick, collecting the coveted BUSSQ Building Super President’s Award for their Tinbeerwah project, Australis, as well as the Langs Building Supplies trophy for Best Residential Bathroom and Best Residential Pool for Kareela in Little Cove.
The stunning design of Australis fits seamlessly within its surroundings, delivering incredible craftsmanship and impeccable fittings.
Capturing waterfront views with an outdoor living feel, the Modern Thai House epitomises the Sunshine Coast lifestyle, earning Braeden Constructions the prestigious Xact Accounting House of the Year . The Noosa Heads project is a modern three-level home with several timber highlights giving it a tropical atmosphere.
The Modern Thai House was also named the best Individual Home over $2 million.
The ocean views from First Bay by Mosaic are a beach lover’s dream. The Coolum Beach development by Mosaic Construction won the Residential Building (high-rise over 3 storeys) up to $20 million category and claimed the sought-after Bathersby Legal Project of the Year Award.
The impressive project comprises 38 apartments across two boutique buildings, boasting opulent finishes and designer kitchens.
The Murphy Builders Qld team cemented their status as sustainable builders, picking up the awards for Excellence in Sustainable Living and Excellence in Energy Efficiency and Environmental Management for Azure Buderim Residence and Mooloolaba Foreshore Redevelopment projects respectively.
They also took home the Best Use of Sloping Sites award for Azure Buderim Residence.
C2 Projects was among the other big winners on the night, scooping the Alan Eichmann Memorial Award for Innovation for Saving The Geddes.
Judges described the restoration and renovation of this original 1965 Kings Beach house as a work of art.
C2 Projects preserved as much of the original home’s character as possible while creating a more liveable space and maximising the coastal views.
Mitchell Jensen from MLB Design & Construction was awarded Construction Skills Queensland Apprentice of the Year with Jordan Jolly from Stroud Homes nabbing the Women in Building award.
Master Builders Sunshine Coast Queensland Regional Manager, Nicola Scott congratulated all 43 category winners.
“2022 was a year of unexpected challenges and hurdles, but our industry took it in their stride and has produced some truly outstanding work.
“From luxury beachside homes, educational facilities and health precincts to stunning renovations and even backpackers’ accommodation, this year’s entries were inspirational,” she said.
“The quality of the winning entries is second to none and the style of entries showcased our incredible coastal lifestyle.”

Australis is arranged in a series of interconnected pavilions that follow the natural topography, connecting the home to the beautiful native forest and surrounding landscape.
The family home boasts big, sliding, glass doors and windows that open onto the greenery.
The builders have used spotted gum wood on all cladding, decks, and exposed beams and flooring, for its bushfire resistant characteristics.
A timber theme is carried throughout with Blackbutt feature ceilings and solid oak joinery aligned with polished concrete floors.
