Master Builders Queensland Deputy CEO Sue-Ann Fresneda said Queensland’s success on the national stage further cemented its builders’ reputation as the best in the business.
“Despite being faced with challenging market conditions such as cost hikes, labour shortages, and a drop in demand for residential dwellings, Queensland’s building and construction industry has once again proven that tenacity, skill and sheer hard work always overcome,” Ms Fresneda said.
“We are immensely proud to see 15 of our Housing & Construction Awards winners receive the national acclaim they so richly deserve, and I congratulate each of them on their achievements.”
Following another historic awards season, Master Builders Queensland has officially launched its 2024 Housing & Construction Awards program, with entries now open via the website.
“The level of excellence rewarded both at state and national levels this year has the industry buzzing – so what better way to celebrate than to dive into next year’s program before the year ends?” Ms Fresneda said.
“Our Awards have proven the pinnacle of success for the industry to aspire to, and if the calibre of our 2023 entries is anything to go by, we’re expecting the bar to be raised even higher in 2024.”
Now in their 38th year, the Awards honour the best and brightest in Queensland’s building and construction industry.
From small family businesses to the industry’s household names, and apprentices to trade contractors, there’s a category for everyone.
Major categories include the sought-after President’s Award, Project of the Year and House of the Year.
“Our Awards also honour the people that are shining bright in our industry, including an apprentice, emerging builder, and women who are carving out their individual legacies,” Ms Fresneda said.
“I encourage everyone to submit their entries early – we can’t wait to see what you’ve been working on.”
All award submissions are reviewed by independent judges who consider criteria including quality of workmanship, degree of construction difficulty, external appeal, siting and aspect along with amenities and aesthetics.
Winners are announced at Regional Awards held from July to August, with eligible winners from these events making up the nominees for the Queensland Awards, held in October. Eligible winners from the Queensland Awards are then nominated for the Master Builders Australia National Excellence in Building & Construction Awards.
