Townsville reno is a truly modern Queenslander
Winner of the 2022 North Queensland BUSSQ Building Super President’s Award – Morehead St Residence by Catobuilt
Extensive renovations and extensions to this 1929 Queenslander improved its liveability and enhanced the style to bring it up to date.
Only the external framing, roof and joists remain of the original building.
Builders completely gutted the internal framing and the kitchen, living room and deck zones were added with an extension.
The traditional Queenslander floorplan remained with living spaces central in the beautiful home and bedrooms off on either side of the house.
Open-plan spaces make it a perfect home to entertain guests.
Catobuilt worked to marry the old structure with the new construction in a way that was code compliant and aesthetically pleasing.
Great care was taken to use quality finishes that nod to traditional aesthetics but are modern too. An old-school checkerboard tile pattern was applied in the ensuite but used an on-trend colour palette.
Judges’ comments
