North Queensland builders deliver next-level excellence at 2024 Housing & Construction Awards

10 August 2024

Ingenuity, tenacity and superior craftsmanship abounded as North Queensland’s top builders were honoured at the 2024 Housing & Construction Awards.

The atmosphere was electric at the sold-out event at The Ville Resort-Casino on Saturday August 10, shining a light on the fantastic work being achieved right across the industry.

Spot On Construction QLD made it a triple, winning the prestigious wilson ryan grose Lawyers House of the Year Award and Excellence in Home Sustainability and Innovation, plus Individual Home from $700,000 up to $850,000 for expertly executed passive home, Akubra House.

Attention to Detail Property Services lived up to their name on the masterful renovation of pre-war Queenslander Graywyn House, earning them the coveted BUSSQ Building Super President’s Award and Home Renovation Project from $1 million up to $2 million.

It was also a double for Prime Constructions, honoured with the QSolutions Project of the Year Award and Tourism and Leisure Facilities over $10 million for Ardo, Townsville’s first luxury hotel.

In the Individual Awards category, respected role model and 16-year industry professional Emma Howard from BESIX Watpac was honoured with the Women in Building Award, while a consistent pursuit of knowledge and pride in his work earned Endfire Engineering’s Kieran Davies the Apprentice of the Year Award.

Master Builders Regional Manager – North Queensland, Alana Hopkins, congratulated the winners across all 39 categories.

“Our Housing & Construction Awards are an important event for our industry, shining a light on the quality workmanship and outstanding expertise that Master Builders are renowned for,” Alana said.

“We’re facing some tough challenges right now, including ongoing labour shortages, a 40 per cent jump in material costs the last three years, and red tape hampering our ability to get on with the job during the housing crisis.

“But as this years’ Awards have proven, determination, skill and sheer hard work can deliver outstanding results, even in the difficult times.

“It’s a privilege to be a part of our members’ journeys, and I am incredibly proud of the exceptional achievements of the North Queensland Industry. Congratulations to all our 2024 entrants and winners.”

With custom features and expert execution of passive design principles, this home is testament to the builders’ excellence in craftsmanship, with our judges praising Akubra House as taking residential construction to the next level.

Winner of the 2024 North Queensland BUSSQ Building Super President’s Award – Attention to Detail Property Services for Graywyn House

Graywyn House is a humble pre-war Queenslander transformed into a masterpiece. A modern interpretation of the traditional, every aspect of the home has been customised or is high-spec. Our judges were impressed with the outstanding level of workmanship which has honoured the style and character of its predecessor, and the high degree of difficulty the builder has overcome. Attention to Detail Property Services have lived up to their name to deliver a home truly deserving of our President’s Award.

Winner of the 2024 North Queensland QSolutions Project of the Year Award – Prime Constructions for Ardo
