Central Queensland builders awarded for top projects

From state-of-the-art community facilities to beautiful family homes, the Master Builders Central Queensland 2023 Housing & Construction Awards showed off craftsmanship, superb finishes, and detail in construction.

More than 20 builders, projects, and individuals were recognised at the event, held at the Frenchville Sports Club, Rockhampton on Friday, 11 August.

Corbett Homes were awarded the prestigious House of the Year title for their Willows Gemfields project, Platinum River 289. The team built a Hamptons-style home, with a modern twist that is both understated and beautiful.

Platinum River 289 also snapped up the trophy for the best Individual Home from $500,000 up to $750,000.

With its unique, practical design, and soft light colour palette inside and out, the home exudes a feeling of calm.

TF Woollam & Son delivered the Rockhampton Airport Terminal – Security Upgrade & Refurbishment, winning the team the coveted Project of the Year title and the award for best Commercial/Industrial Building from $20 million up to $50 million.

The massive project consisted of eight different stages of work in 29 work zones, all within a fully operational airport. The result – a high-quality facility which is a vital gateway to central Queensland.

TF Woollam & Son also picked up the award for Community Service Facilities with their Biloela Replacement Police Station build.

The Whitehouse Haven by Olman Constructions took home the BUSSQ Building Super President’s Award as well as a win in the Individual Home from $750,000 up to $1 million category.

The home is both beautiful and functional, boasting attention to detail, exceptional workmanship, and stylish finishes.

Industry individuals were also recognised on the night with Benjamin Frost From Acute Builders being awarded Apprentice of the Year and Brenton McFadzen from BCM Building taking the Rising Star title.

Master Builders’ Central Queensland Regional Manager, Dean Phillips, congratulated all the winners across the 29 categories.

"It’s a true testament to the quality of building that happens in and around the Central Queensland region.

"It doesn't matter whether they've taken an Award home this year or not. Each of our 2023 entrants is a part of the Master Builders family and helps cement why we're so widely trusted and respected,” he said.

Stylish details make Parkhurst home a winner

Winner of the 2023 Central Queensland BUSSQ Building Super President’s Award – The Whitehouse Haven by Olman Constructions

The Whitehouse Haven is both beautiful and functional, Olman Constructions has thought of every detail in this Parkhurst home.

The four-bedroom home boasts two bathrooms, an outdoor powder room, a three-bay garage, a barbeque area, and a remarkable 150 square metre teak timber deck, perfect for entertaining guests.

Natural oak timber flooring flows seamlessly throughout the home which is enhanced using light timber features and soft tones to create a warm and inviting atmosphere. Additionally, the aesthetic appeal of the home is elevated with natural light streaming in through soft sheers and blinds, featuring pendants and mitred edge tiles.

Highlights in the home are the custom-built indoor and outdoor features, including a timber screen, TV units, bedhead, outdoor fences, an outdoor pool seat, and a timber pergola.

Airport upgrade grabs judges’ attention

Winner of the 2023 Central Queensland Project of the Year – Rockhampton Airport Terminal – Security Upgrade and Refurbishment by Woollam Constructions.

Due to the legislative changes to security screening, the installation of new passenger screening equipment at Rockhampton Airport was necessary.

The Woollam Constructions team worked tirelessly to upgrade and refurbish the facility including an extension for the international arrivals terminal, two airline lounges and office space.

A new café and car rental area were also part of the project.

Challenging after-hours work during a difficult time for the industry, saw the builders present exceptional work.

Winner of the 2023 Central Queensland House of the Year – Platinum River 289 by Corbett Homes

A Hampton-inspired home, with a modern twist that is both understated and beautiful. Platinum River 289 boasts a unique, practical design.

The pops of colour to the tiling in the bathrooms and beautiful vessel basins make a statement. With a soft light colour palette inside and out, the home exudes a feeling of calm.
