Using a licensed contractor
If you engage a builder or tradesperson to do work that is valued in excess of $3,300, you must ensure they have a QBCC licence.
The Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC) is a government authority that regulates the Queensland building industry and provides information and advice to consumers and trade contractors. Therefore, using a contractor with a QBCC licence, can also give you greater peace-of-mind.
How to check whether a builder is licensed
To check whether a builder is licenced, you can:
- Contact the QBCC or use their online licensee search
- Ask the builder to show you their licence.
Another way to ensure your contractor is licensed from the get-go is to build with a Master Builder.
Find a Master Builder
